Because of our scale, there is a lot going on during harvest time at AgriNorthwest, with literally millions of pounds of product being put away every day. Getting it done safely and efficiently is a huge emphasis. Technology provides a boost during harvest, from GPS self-driving tractors to our pivots and storages, which can be operated from a cell phone.
Potatoes
The Columbia River Basin, with its excellent water, soil, and climate, is the best potato-growing area in the world. We grow processing potatoes, and our state-of-the-art storage facilities control the climate to keep them fresh. Processors know they can depend on us to fill their needs year-round.
Onions
The climate and soil type make this an unbelievable area to grow onions. We focus on quality and conservation of resources, while producing premium red, yellow, white, and dehydrated onions that can supply customers year-round. We use drip irrigation for many of our onions, and we test the soil weekly to ensure the proper amount of nutrients are supplied to the plants.
Corn
AgriNorthwest is located in one of the world's premier regions for irrigated corn production. Warm summer days, coupled with the long growing season, help us achieve huge yields per acre, with most of it going to dairies and feedlots in our local region. We grow corn silage, corn earlage, high-moisture corn, and dry corn, depending on our customers’ needs. Washington state has the highest average corn yield in the United States, and AgriNorthwest is proud to be part of that success. We focus on keeping all of the crop residues in the fields to build our soil and prevent erosion. Most of our corn is non-GMO and because of the isolation of our farm, we can ensure it is free from cross-contamination during pollination. This produces a pure, quality product.
Sweet Corn
AgriNorthwest produces sweet corn for world-class companies in the Columbia River Basin that offer frozen bags of corn and corn on the cob. We value our relationship with these companies and enjoy working together to deliver high-quality sweet corn to consumers around the world.
Wheat
Wheat is an important part of the crop rotation at AgriNorthwest and serves a dual purpose. It holds down our soil, so it doesn’t erode in the winter and spring winds of the Columbia River Basin, and it also is a crop that gets shipped all over the world. We primarily grow wheat that will be made into pasta.
Carrots
The land in the Columbia River Basin is also exceptional for growing carrots. We plant them densely in beds to produce large yields that are perfect for the baby carrots customers buy in their grocery stores. Our carrots are marketed throughout the United States and in many foreign countries.
